Through the Eyes of a Toddler

We can learn a lot if we try to look at the world through the eyes of our children. As I watched Little Man dig his toes into the sandy beach the other day I was reminded of how truly blessed my family is. Not by him (although he is one our biggest blessings), but by the splendor that is a Minnesota Summer day.

Little Man had been to the beach before and has certainly done his fair share of swimming (seriously the kid is a fish) but this trip was different. He was older. Old enough now to really play in the sand. To splash and run. To wade out into the waves. He loved every minute of it.

He loved watching the boats drive by. Loved watching the other kids play. Seeing them dive under the water and screaming “Where’d he go” (every single time). Loved watching the dogs splash in the water and fetch balls. He truly enjoyed every single aspect of the craziness that was the public beach that day. Well almost everything – he did not love the part where we had to go home.

As I watched him I forgot about the humidity, the heat and the sand in weird places. I pushed aside thoughts of work, chores and bills. I just appreciated the beauty and simplicity of what it took to amuse him that day. And I thought to myself, “this is what life is really about.”

Check back again for more details on the adventures of Little Man, myself and Kelli. In the mean time get the basics on who we are and what we’re all about with both Kelli and I’s introduction posts.
